Firearms Instructor – Victoria Kogan
Victoria has been active in the firearms industry since 2012. Her mission is to empower and train women (and men) to be competent and confident with firearms. Victoria is also an active advocate for competition shooting sports, and you may see her at matches for IDPA, Steel Challenge, and USPSA. The shooting sports are an excellent way to improve your marksmanship skills! Victoria is a manager, safety officer, and instructor at Shady Oaks Gun Range where she provides pistol training and Texas LTC classes.

License to Carry
If you landed on this page looking to take the License to Carry class with me, first understand that you now have TWO OPTIONS. If you have any questions about them, please review ALL THE DETAILS on the LTC Info Page. I put a lot of time and effort into explaining everything there.
Remember the LTC Class (online or in-person) is ONLY for those who have a basic level of firearms proficiency. The LTC is not a handgun training class. Get yourself to a basic level of proficiency before signing up for LTC. You must be able to operate your firearm by yourself. You must be able to load magazines by yourself or with a speed loader. If you don’t feel like a badass with your pistol, please take a lesson before completing the LTC.
Beginner Handgun Lessons
Frequently, I am asked, “When is your next beginner class?” Well, the truth is that I don’t offer a group option for beginners, because beginners need one-on-one training for safety reasons. One instructor is unable to watch all the muzzles and trigger fingers of a group of novices and this becomes a safety concern.
If you need beginner training, sign up for a private lesson to learn safety rules and marksmanship fundamentals.
Please understand I have very limited availability, generally during the week, during the day. Rarely am I able to provide this service on the weekend due to other endeavors.
Online LTC Class
This is split into two parts and has a prerequisite of having a basic level of pistol proficiency prior to the LTC class.
First, complete the Part 1 classroom portion at OnlineTexasLTC.com/ShadyOaks ($60) at your own pace, in your own time (generally about 4 hours).
Then complete Part 2 with me.
- If you’re comfortable shooting independently in a group setting, sign-up for my Online LTC Range Class to complete the range portion in a class setting with up to 10 other people (scheduled for 2 hours).
- OR: If you would like to complete the RANGE portion in a PRIVATE SESSION, book an LTC Range Session (scheduled for 75 minutes and includes the shooting test).
In-Person LTC Class
Prerequisite of having a basic level of pistol proficiency prior to the LTC Class.
- This class is 6 hours and generally offered once a month on a Saturday or Sunday.
- Includes the required Classroom Presentation covering the same material as the online class.
- Includes the required Range Instruction and Handgun Proficiency Demonstration (range time) in a group setting with up to 10 other people.
- If you have a group of at least 5 people wanting to take the class together, contact me to schedule a private LTC class.
